A New Zealand University released a new report titled: Franchising New Zealand 2012 survey.
What the study found is that franchising Kiwi ideas are worth $20b to the New Zealand economy p.a. The study found that 22,400 franchisee businesses operating in the country are?employing 101,800. Even more remarkable is that 90% are homegrown franchise brands.
The study concludes that online sales and social media marketing is what franchisees need to?be actively doing to increase market presence. That is why franchises?can be?good family businesses. The teens can earn their pocket money for dad and mom doing the marketing in between Facebooking up a storm.
The exciting thing about?New Zealand is that once a new business model is evolved and tested in New Zealand, it can be expanded overseas too.?That?s where the brightest franchisee stars of NZ?are making the big gains in reaching larger audiences and markets through having a global vision and looking out at the bigger picture.?One particular franchise of the study?is valued at $700m. Their product is?wheat, salad, butter, mayonnaise and beef.
Why is franchising smart for New Zealand business owners: We have high quality products in New Zealand, quite naturally. Creating a strong distribution network for the products is NZ?s main area to grow in. Franchising then and taking an idea into new territories and markets, allows New Zealanders the ability to ensure NZ product makes it to market abroad. All of the price mark ups revenue also go back to the business owner, while creating employment for host nations? people abroad. It?s all very exciting, when done well.
Many a ?self-made? millionaire, utilized a team of helpers to become millionaires off the back of a good idea. Franchising was a pathway that helped them achieve a dream. They found new friends along the way too, who became part of their extended family and?success.
