Affiliate marketing is quite a fascinating area. Many businesses, both large and small, have benefited greatly from online forms of advertising. While this is exciting, it can also be stressful for the Website marketing beginner. Use these tips to get started with your website.

Technology moves fast, and if your company wants to keep up, you are going to have to take advantage of all the technology available for marketing success. Neglecting to remain current undermines your clients? confidence in your capabilities. If you want to gain respect and see more sales, you need to show visitors that you are up-to-date in your field.

Make sure you are very knowledgeable about the content on your site. This is vital not solely because it gains you credibility about your field, but it also prevents you from appearing dishonest because you don?t know what you?re talking about.

TIP! Solicit feedback whenever possible. This is very important to your business, as your perception of your prices and your site?s appearance might differ from the customer?s opinion.

Offer freebies that are branded with your company and submit those freebies to the websites that advertise those kinds of deals. If it is a free e-book, submit it to websites that offer free e-books. You can find many websites that are happy to list free offers.

Craft your banner ads so that they stand out from the other million banner ads on the web. The more appealing and original your banner ad appears, the more people you?ll have clicking on it.

TIP! Put some banners on your header, make sure they do not look like a banner. If they appear as clickable links, your customers will be more apt to use them.

People focus on website URLs. Make sure your website is easy to remember so that a customer will be able to quickly and easily access it whenever they desire. When you are setting up your company, you should always try to incorporate your brand name or company name. While customers can Google you, make it simpler by having an address they can easily remember and type into their search bars.

Study the most successful techniques that your competitors are using, then expand on them and use them with your website. If your competitors? websites make you want to buy something, analyze the techniques used to make you feel that way.

You possess the skills needed to be successful in online marketing. You don?t need elaborate software or a wild, far-fetched scheme, you only need yourself. You simply need a good strategy and a great work ethic.

TIP! The internet has turned business into an anonymous affair. Small businesses benefit from this the most as they rely on a more personal and relationship based strategy to help sell, and create a lifelong customer base.

Give your customers a reason to visit your website. You don?t need to create an entire encyclopedia, but having a good amount of information that your customers can easily access is important. Add reviews, articles and other content that will let prospective customers know that you are a business that knows your industry.

You can use online tools to determine the efficiency of your marketing approach; one option is to calculate the percentage of site visitors who ultimately end up making a purchase. Most major companies online offer various add-ons and trackers, which allow you to see the comparison of visitors to sales numbers and repeat customers.

A title often commands respect. If you?re a business owner, become CEO. If you are not the owner, you can still adopt an impressive title. When you write articles ensure you have a good title and sign it along with your name.

TIP! Any online business plan and marketing strategy should include a fully secure ordering process. Guarantee the security of your customer?s information so they are not leery of sharing it with you.

You can?t succeed at Website marketing without a great website. Regularly test your site to make sure there are no broken links, missing images, or other problems. If your website proves to be full of mistakes or links that don?t work, then your potential customers will go elsewhere.

Tailor versions of your website to different audiences worldwide. Offer visitors the option of choosing their own language when viewing your site. With a more global approach, you will get a lot of traffic and a lot more customers. If a person can read your website in their preferred language, they will feel more comfortable, and you raise the chance that they will place an order with you.

Advertising is your best avenue to making your online business successful. Advertising can greatly increase the profits of your business. It helps to make new customers that may not have been able to find you otherwise.

TIP! A little sizzle in your website design can be good, but don?t overwhelm your readers with fancy tricks. You only have a few seconds to engage your potential customer and give them a reason to stay on your site.

Marketing online is like other markets in some ways; however, in other ways, it is very different. For example, what if search engines stopped emphasizing title keywords in their ranking systems? If this happens, you will have to adjust your marketing strategy.

Make a simple video where you demonstrate using the products that you are selling. That way the customer is going to see you use the product. Be sure to demonstrate any and all features and benefits that the product has. Upload this video to sites such as Youtube, and put it on your blog.

Marketing over the Internet is something that is filled with multiple strategies and it can be perceived as a gift or a curse. It is a good thing that there is a lot of room for customization, but that means it can be very difficult to make your choices. The following tips will make your journey into Web marketing a success.

TIP! Design an all-inclusive website with an emphasis on fresh, relevant content. Give knowledge to your customers in a short time, so they are informed prior to purchasing a product.

sheena_galapon: Predicting the Future of Teaching | HalalTec

There is a mountain of speculation and debate about what school and learning will look like in the near future. Will education be online? Individualized? Self-paced? Flipped? Hybridized? Maybe even completely irrelevant? Rarely, however, is much speculation given to the role of the educator in the future of learning. All people seem to want to know is whether lectures are better recorded or in person or if educators at every level are giving students enough real world skills to be successful in the global economy. In reality, however, the radical changes in technology and the increasing demands on teachers are going to fundamentally change the very act of teaching. What will the educator of the future look like? How will the job description and qualifications change? And what effect will all of that have on students?

The Future of Learning

An October, 2012 video released by telecom company Ericsson presents a survey of educational experts and entrepreneurs speculating about the future of education. This promotional video for the company relies heavily on Knewton and Coursera as the models for the kinds of adaptive, individualized technology that will drive learning in the future.

The focus of the video is the ability of these technologies to track minute user data and facilitate intimately individualized instruction based on that data, including student learning preference, peak performance times, prior knowledge, and a host of other information. Even so, teaching and the role of the instructor was largely missing from this conversation about the techno-facilitated future of education.? One rather vague reference to the role of the educator was attributed to Coursera CEO Daphne Koller in an article accompanying the piece on GIGAOM:

?Coursera?s Koller says one of the revolutions in education is that teaching will be less about conveying information and more of a return to its original roots where instructors engage in dialogue, develop critical thinking skills and spark passion about a discipline.? (23 Oct., 2012)

The Role of the Educator on an Individualized World?

The Koller quote indicates that teaching will take a step backward (historically) with the implementation of these new technologies. Pretty far back, to the time of Plato, in fact, where the teaching and learning process was more about interpersonal interaction and fostering the individual ability to critically apply knowledge and cultivate individual passions for learning. While that is a wonderful plan, it is nearly impossible to imagine a way in which it could happen in a world where a factory model of education still dominates and teachers are overwhelmed with dozens of students in a single class. Plato never had 30 students following him around all attempting to interact at the same time. Given the reality of our education system, here are some more realistic roles for instructors in the world of high-tech education:

  • Facilitator/Learning Manager: If instructional materials really become individualized to the extent that the video describes, there will need to be someone present to help students navigate the technical aspects of performing the work that the system pushes to them. Additionally, the instructor will have a role in keeping students on task, and in providing support when learners fail to reach the standards pre-programmed into the adaptive learning system. There may also be an increased role in making sure that each student is completing their own work, rather than the work of peers.
  • Remediator: When students fail to achieve the learning objectives outlined by the automated system, the instructor will need to step in to troubleshoot the learning disconnect and either provide alternative instruction or adjust the learning system through some sort of control interface.
  • Enricher: Playing off the flipped classroom model, the teacher?s role could shift to providing enrichment activities beyond the scope of the automated system. If adaptive content is provided that helps students master basic concepts and learn background information, teachers can focus on helping students use the information that they have gained in authentic ways to help turn it into knowledge.
  • Collaborator/Mentor: One intriguing possibility in a technology-facilitated education future is for teachers to serve as collaborators and mentors with students engaging in real world, possibly entrepreneurial, activities. Such activities would help students develop actual marketable skills and could potentially provide a new and much needed revenue stream for schools and universities.
  • Content Creator: One role that teachers already have ?unless their curriculum is standardized- is that of content creator. This is actually one of the most important functions that educators at all levels perform, and one for which they are well trained. Add to these qualifications the fact that they actually know their students, their strengths, weaknesses, and capabilities, and educators could become a valuable resource to be employed to help bolster the content in these adaptive systems. This serves the additional purpose of de-centralizing the curriculum so that a diverse set of perspectives and ideas can be assured.
  • N/A: It is possible, though fairly far-fetched, that the further refinement of these adaptive learning systems will make educators obsolete. The Internet is rapidly becoming a repository for all human knowledge (information), and there is potential for these systems to become sophisticated enough to take existing content and reformulate it to create new learning opportunities. This is a frightening possibility that seems awfully close to the scenario that serves as the backdrop for the Terminator movies though.

While it is exciting to think about the rich possibilities that these new technologies could provide for students and the potential they have for liberating teachers from much of the routine, standardized content that all students must master in order to be successful. It is important to remember that true learning happens in context and through a socially mediated process of meaning making.? No technology can accomplish that (yet?), so we will need to keep teachers around to provide the most important aspect of education ? the human touch.

Facts about alcohol | Maximized Living

Ethanol is a colorless, flammable liquid and is produced by fermentation. On the one hand, on the human body, alcohol has an intoxicating effect. On the other hand he is greatly harmful to health and can cause serious illness when excessive consumption

Alcohols are organic hydrocarbon compounds such as butanol, propanol, methanol, or ethanol. The applications are diverse. Among other things, they find use as a solvent in the chemical industry, as a part of medicines or in various alcoholic beverages. In the latter case, it is ethyl alcohol (ethanol). Especially young people are vulnerable to the effects of alcohol, because the brain maturation lasts until the age of 20. Your brain is more sensitive to alcohol, and so thinking, feelings and perception can change faster and more intense.

Indian land program shows tech's limits

BANGALORE, India (AP) ? For years, Karnataka's land records were a quagmire of disputed, forged documents maintained by thousands of tyrannical bureaucrats who demanded bribes to do their jobs. In 2002, hopes emerged that this was about to change.

The southern state, home to India's technology hub in Bangalore, unveiled Bhoomi, a program that digitized Karnataka's 20 million handwritten land records. At the time, it was hailed as a landmark use of computers to cut through bureaucracy and corruption.

But a decade later, Karnataka remains plagued by land disputes that merely migrated from paper to the database, and even the program's creator says it could take 30 more years to sort it all out.

As the Indian government puts increasing faith in technology to help solve the nation's thorniest problems ? including a complete tech-based overhaul of its welfare system ? Bhoomi presents a cautionary tale: that technology, even at its most successful, can only be a part of the solution.

"(Officials) kind of look at technology to be a panacea for everything, which cannot be. The political will is the most important thing," said Rajeev Chawla, the government administrator who created Bhoomi.

For Yashoda Puttappa, Bhoomi merely marked another setback in her family's six-decade struggle to recover a plot of 1.6 hectares (four acres) she said was illegally taken from her grandfather in the 1940s as supposed repayment of a loan from a wealthy upper-caste neighbor. She feels that Bhoomi cemented the competing claim.

"In the computer, the name is of that man, the dominant caste, which is only going to make this harder," said Puttappa, a land rights activist.

Bhoomi is good, she said, for preventing future land disputes, by making it more difficult to forge documents, but it also gives a patina of legitimacy to old land grabs.

"Whatever we lost, we can't get back," she said.

In this country, a third the size of the U.S. and four times as populous, land supports hundreds of millions of small-scale farmers and is often the only inheritance they pass to their children.

It has also become a hugely profitable investment, as India's expanding cities grow desperate for new space for office complexes and housing developments.

But land ownership has long been controlled by corrupt bureaucrats beholden to powerful land mafias that dispossessed the downtrodden and spawned millions of disputes.

In Karnataka, 10,000 village accountants presided over piles of stapled, crossed-out, erased and rewritten documents that had been revised so often it was nearly impossible to trace back how land was transferred ? or stolen.

Wealthy families routinely took land documents as collateral for usurious loans to the poor, Puttappa said. Upon default, they took the land, often illegally. Even if the loan was repaid, many would trick illiterate debtors into putting their thumbprints on sale documents they couldn't read, she said.

"You couldn't even fight in the courts, because you didn't have the records," Puttappa said.

Bhoomi, which means "land" in the local Kannada language, changed that. The land records were transferred to a database and the tattered paper documents declared invalid.

Farmers who used to wait days and pay bribes to village accountants to get a copy of their land records, crucial for bank loans, can now get an instant printout at 200 government kiosks across the state for 10 rupees, less than two U.S. cents. When they want to sell their land, they register at the kiosks, which put their requests in a first-come, first-serve queue that makes it far harder for officials to drag their feet in hopes of soliciting a bribe.

But even as the World Bank and others praised Bhoomi as a pioneer in e-governance, the project faced criticism.

In presenting Bhoomi with a U.N. public service award, Cabinet minister Jairam Ramesh criticized the program as "garbage in, garbage out," saying it should have cleaned up the records before digitizing them.

"We all knew it was garbage," Chawla said. "But if I tried to clean this garbage, it may take donkey's years for me, and by the time I cleaned it, more garbage would come into the system."

Instead, by putting safeguards in place to ensure the same piece of land is not sold to multiple buyers and by making the system of land sales more transparent, he hoped the garbage would slowly be squeezed out of the system as land was sold over the years.

But that could take decades, he acknowledges.

The land fight in Karadigere Kaval, a tiny village 85 kilometers (53 miles) from Bangalore, has raged since 1952, when the government gave a little under a hectare (two acres) apiece to hundreds of dalits ? so downtrodden they have no caste.

It was rich earth ? what they called "golden land" ? where almost anything could grow. But repeated droughts forced many to move away. In the late 1970s, the government redistributed the land, giving the 90 remaining families 1.6 hectares (four acres) each, according to residents and a local land rights group.

Upper-caste families insisted they had bought some of the land from migrating farmers and it was rightfully theirs. The two sides fought in the fields and in the courts.

Three dalits were killed in a battle over the land in 1980. Six years later, the upper castes won eviction notices against some dalits. The dalits convinced local officials not to serve the notices, and got a court to agree to preserve the status quo and leave them on the land. An upper caste farmer fenced off about 18 hectares (44 acres). The dalits rounded up hundreds of allies, ripped down the fence and sold off the barbed wire. Finally, in 2002, a court ruled in favor of the dalit villagers, the residents said.

Yet when Gangarangamma, a 65-year-old widow who uses one name, went to the Bhoomi office to check her land record, it showed the four acres she and her husband had farmed for decades were registered to the government, a sign the land remained in dispute. She has repeatedly complained, she said.

"(Officials) all the time say this will be fixed, but we haven't got it," she said in exasperation. "All of my generation is dead, only three of us are left, I can't say with any confidence this will be resolved before I die."

G.N. Nagaraj, a state Communist Party leader, hailed Bhoomi as "wonderful software," but it was only of "very, very small, limited help." The land mafia can still pressure the officials entering the records into the computer to help them steal land, he said.

Chawla said Bhoomi was designed to prevent new disputes from entering the system, but he acknowledged it wasn't foolproof. Officials were still required to process land sales. They could be bribed and so could witnesses identifying sellers, he said.

Bhoomi's transparency did help Goutham Venki in his fight to get back land that had been taken long ago from his great grandfather by a powerful landlord.

He and about a dozen from his community of migrant stoneworkers looked up their dispossessed land at the Bhoomi office in 2004 and found it had been registered to a real estate developer, who had just bought it from the landlord.

Venki sued ? and won. But he still had to borrow 120,000 rupees (about $220) at 60 percent interest from a loan shark to bribe bureaucrats to change the Bhoomi record back into his name.

A month later, the real estate developer appealed. And the decades' old land dispute drags on, like so many of Karnataka's land battles.

Special needs disability parenting BLOOM: The 'perfect' holiday ...

By Lori Beesley
Holland Bloorview family leader

At this time of the year, other children are putting pencils and crayons to paper, writing their letters to Santa. Our son is getting excited about Christmas too, but he has his own reasons. For Mitchell, it?s all about the anticipation of the day rather than the reality.

Mitchell has a genetic condition called Fragile X syndrome as well as autism. Because he has Fragile X, he is developmentally delayed and is unable to write a letter to Santa, or anyone else. So why is he excited about Christmas?

The idea of having everyone in the family over for the day makes him happy. As soon as the lights and decorations start to appear, Mitchell knows Christmas is coming. He?ll pretend to call family members on the phone, inviting them to come over for Christmas and spend the day together.

The other night I?told him that my brother was sleeping over on Christmas Eve. He was?very excited. He immediately picked up the phone and had a good five-minute 'pretend' conversation with his Uncle Terry, telling him to make sure he brings his toothbrush and pajamas when he packs for Christmas Eve. There was no mention of gifts or presents, since those are secondary for Mitchell. The joy of spending time with the people closest to him is what makes Mitchell?s day special.

That said, Christmas time can pose its own unique challenges for us as a family. Mitchell can become overwhelmed if visitors to our home aren?t those he was hoping for, or if there are too many.

We recently hosted five couples for dinner and minutes before they arrived, Mitchell got very upset, leaned his back against our locked front door and kept repeating: ?No one in my house.? He recently turned 18 and is taller and stronger than me, so simply picking him up and removing him is no longer an option. Lots of distractions and a promise of a special treat of watching TV in Mom and Dad?s room helped resolve the situation.

Going to other peoples? homes usually proves more successful, but we need to do lots of prep work to make this pleasurable for everyone. We prepare?Mitchell by telling him what to expect and who will be there. We bring along his Nintendo DS and our iPad and make sure both are fully charged. Within minutes of arriving, Mitchell has usually scouted out a quiet room or corner and stays put for the remainder of the visit. At some point, his internal ?It?s time to go home NOW? switch is thrown and we need to be ready to?move pronto. On a positive note, his ability to tolerate longer evenings out has?increased over the years so there is hope!

Another issue we face is managing our family?s expectations of the holidays. It?s our job as parents to try to make sure our children enjoy this special time of year. But to do that,?we need to know what a great time looks like for our particular child, given their unique abilities and sensitivities, and balance that with?our family?s expectations.

Years ago, we used to celebrate Christmas at my brother-in-law?s home. It was a loud,?boisterous home with everyone talking over each other. It was the exact opposite of the environment Mitchell was most happy and comfortable in. When it came time to open gifts, my sister-in-law wanted everyone to be in the same room, taking turns, eating and laughing together.

But I knew better.

I quietly?led Mitchell into another room, popped in a new movie he had received that morning at home (a yearly tradition) and set him up with a snack and drink. He was in his element and had a grin from ear to ear. My sister-in-law however, was not happy.

She was upset that her idea of the perfect family opening gifts together wasn't?happening.

?But we should all be together," she said. ?That?s the way it?s supposed to be.? She felt badly that Michell was all alone. Mitchell must be with us, she insisted. I had to tell her, in no uncertain terms, that Mitchell was not joining us. It was frustrating to?have to explain to?her why Mitchell was happier alone in a quiet room, watching his movie, and to convince her that this really was best for Mitchell and for everyone. However, as educating extended family is an annual?occurrence,?it does get easier as the years go by.

While your?family may or may not get why?you set things up?at celebrations the way you?do, you know what?s best to ensure your kids are happy and safe. And along the way, maybe we can all?start a new tradition or two!

business careers list: Tips on Finding a Graduate Job - vtkbkycac

AppId is over the quota

Finding a graduate job is not as easy as finding a minimum wage position that requires no formal training. You will have to work harder to find a graduate job, but you will be rewarded with a position that you like, and that pays you well for the work you do.

The first tip to finding a graduate job is to have a good resume to hand out when you are on your job search. If you apply for a minimum wage job doing menial labor then you will walk into the place of business and fill out a job application that the business representative hands you. They do not want to know anymore about you than what is on their application. You do not need to have a resume for these types of positions. Companies that are looking to hire someone with a degree or with specialized skills and training expect a resume outlining all of your education, all of the skills you possess, all of your past employers, what your interests are, what you do in your spare time, and what charities and foundations you are affiliated with.

When you are looking for a graduate job you will look in places like the classified ads in newspapers, and you can look on bulletin boards that announce openings, and you can talk to friends and family to see if the companies they work for could possibly be hiring, and you can call employment agencies to help you find available positions.

Looking for a graduate job with an employment agency can be the most beneficial way to search for these positions. When you hire an agency to help you procure employment they will take down all of your information, and they will get a copy of your resume. Then they will go to work looking for career opportunities that fit your skills. These agents will often have knowledge of openings that no one else is aware of because the company that is hiring may use the same agency.

When you use an employment agency to help you locate the right job you can even begin to search for employment opportunities before you graduate from college. You can tell the agent when you will receive your degree and they can set up interviews and possible job connections before you actually graduate. Some companies even prefer to hire people who are about to graduate so they can get some of the brightest young minds that have yet to be tainted with rules and regulations of other establishments.

A graduate job is one step in the right direction so that you can secure a financial future for yourself. You can also have work that you like to do rather than just working to pay the bills. If you have been considering furthering your education so that you will be qualified to apply for one of these positions you need to go ahead and start right now. If you have the education then you need to start applying and sell yourself and your abilities now.

A graduate job may be harder to find than a manual labor position would be. Using an employment agency to help you find the right graduate job is the easiest way to accomplish this task.
